Here are some things you should know about the way I practise today. You must remember that A WITCHES BIBLE is now 30 years old.
Although I have Alexandrian lineage I stopped practising it as such many years ago. I would certainly not classify myself as British Traditional Witchcraft – this is actually an american term and is rarely used by actual British witches. Myself and my partner, Gavin practise differently. Certainly there are many elements you would recognise but we put, as I previously mentioned, more emphasis on training and spiritual connection to divinity rather than lineage back to Gerald Gardner or Alex Sanders.

We believe that Wicca/witchcraft by its very nature must evolve and change over time. This means that it must adopt new ideas, and if they work keep them, but if they don’t discard them. We do not do rituals just because they were handed down to us. They have to perform an understandable function. So chants whose language we don’t understand we simply don’t use!

For us, witchcraft is about magic but more importantly it is a spiritual path about growth and ultimatley connection with your god/goddess and you should use what ever you have to acheive that, and if that means adopting magical practises such as Shamanism or from hinduism we consider this valid, just as our ancestors did.

We also believe that Wicca/witchcraft in one place must develop differently than some where else. From our experiences in Italy, we know that British Traditional Witchcraft may not necessarily work well in other cultures. I am as yet unsure as to whether Alexandrian/Gardnerian traditions could work well in Spain, unless they adapted in some way due to the differences in culture. We believe strongly that each culture must find its own way to embrace wicca rather than dogmatically following the British or Irish way of doing things.

I hope that helps you understand the way I work today.

Hi again^^

Thanks for all your explanation.

About Spain, alexandrians and differences of culture: I have a proyect called Triple Spiral (www.tripleespiral.org) where I’m trying to mix the one we know about Wicca, BTW, neopaganism… with traditions of our area. Spain is divided in Autonomic Comunities (something like little States like USA). This way, in every Autonomic Comunity I have made groups bornt from Triple Spiral. For example Valencia has the Triple Spiral of the Orange Blossom (because we have a lot of Orange trees) and we celebrate full moons inspirated in traditions of Valencia. For example: in March we have Fallas (sure you have heard from them) and we make a little sculpture to burn in our cauldron in the full moon of March.

I have always thought that perhaps traditional witches, alexandrians and all these venerable people were going to disagree if they know my proyect… because perhaps is too much… eclectic xD

Thanks for all

I can say that I totally agree with what you are doing! It is exactly what we are doing in Italy. You are going to find some people will not be approving, these same people do not necessarily agree with us either!

We do workshops in Europe, and travel regularly to Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. Perhaps in the future you might want to consider us coming to do a workshop for TripleSpiral? We try to make our workshops affordable as possible.
